Desde que decidí dedicarme al arte mi interés se dirigió a investigar las posibilidades de las herramientas visuales para abordar las distintas formas en las que un entorno rígido podía ser perturbado por alguna presencia peculiar. Esta motivación general inicial me acompaña hasta hoy como una base que ha motivado exploraciones más complejas.

De esta manera, mi trabajo se ha centrado en investigar las estructuras sociales que delimitan parámetros de conducta, frente a las cuales se posicionan cuerpos y elementos que inciden en el entorno transformándolo, o no, pero definitivamente afectándolo de algún modo.

 

El último año he venido explorando lo sutil como estrategia para transgredir las convenciones, principalmente en torno a los parámetros sociales que delimitan una buena conducta. He notado cómo a través de esto se puede perturbar el orden apelando a lo subliminal y generar experiencias visuales que alberguen mensajes camuflados en sus propias estéticas.

Para esta residencia propongo partir de esa experiencia, pero tomando una característica de aquella estrategia para abordarla desde el concepto de complementariedad entre opuestos: la dicotomía. Es decir, propongo enfrentar lo apacible con lo abrupto en un mismo espacio en el que ambos se necesiten para subsistir. De esta manera, busco tomar esta premisa para aterrizarla en un escenario concreto, a partir del cual desarrollar la propuesta visual. Así, me interesa tomar de referencia esta misma experiencia de viajar a una ciudad en la que todo es desconocido para mi, pero en la cual poseo un vínculo en el que albergo sentimientos relacionados a la seguridad de lo conocido.

Since I decided to dedicate myself to art, my interest has been focused on investigating the possibilities of visual tools to address the different ways in which a rigid environment could be disturbed by some peculiar presence. This initial general motivation still accompanies me today as a foundation that has driven more complex explorations.

 

In this way, my work has focused on investigating the social structures that define parameters of behavior, against which bodies and elements position themselves, impacting the environment and transforming it, or not, but definitely affecting it in some way.

 

During the past year, I have been exploring the subtle as a strategy to transgress conventions, primarily regarding the social parameters that define good behavior. I have noticed how, through this approach, it is possible to disturb the order by appealing to the subliminal and create visual experiences that harbor hidden messages within their own aesthetics.

 

For this residency, I propose building upon that experience but focusing on a characteristic of that strategy: the concept of complementarity between opposites, known as dichotomy. In other words, I suggest confronting the tranquil with the abrupt within the same space, where both elements are necessary to coexist. By doing so, I aim to take this premise and ground it in a specific scenario from which to develop the visual proposal. Thus, I am interested in referencing the experience of traveling to a city where everything is unknown to me, yet I possess a connection that evokes feelings related to the security of the familiar.
